Rey Colon: 35th Ward Alderman, Chicago :: Posted on Sunday, December 09, 2012.
On Thursday February 2nd of this year, I hosted a community meeting and posted a newsletter message about the proposed, new Logan Square McDonald's at 2707 N. Milwaukee Ave. By mid- September, demolition permits were issued. The long-time establishment
EXTENDED ENTRY: Yesterday, after a record-breaking 56-day construction period, the new and efficiently improved Logan Square McDonald's opened its doors to become the latest remarkable improvement along Milwaukee Avenue. As promised, the new facility has a more elegant yet comfortable feel. The earth-tone dining area is accented with stone tile; furnished with wooden tables and soft, leather-like chairs. The soothing, amber light fixtures, flat-screen TVs, background music and free Wi-Fi generate a modern, upbeat environment. Artists are invited to present artwork to the McDonald's management for local display. I would like to thank the independent owners and operators of the Logan Square McDonald's Virginia Ojeda and her son Michael Ojeda. Their reinvestment in the community's economy, appearance and daily routine is much appreciated.
Tonight, I am hosting a public meeting in Avondale at Athletic Field Park regarding a proposed Olive Garden Restaurant on the south side of Addison adjacent to the Kennedy expressway. The K-Mart on Addison and Kimball is a very busy store, but has an over abundance of parking and a western lot that is rarely used. If approved, this Olive Garden will be the first within the Chicago City limits. In addition to an eye-catching building with attractive outdoor landscaping, this popular dining venue is affordable for families and will produce new jobs in our area. I will keep you posted on the outcome of this project.
